5 Utes sign FA deals
Looks like 5 Utes will get a shot in an NFL camp this year.
Gabe Long - Houston Martail Burnett - Minnestoa Derick Richards and Steve Tate - Tampa Boon - New Orleans. Of those I think Long and Burnett have the best shot. I wouldn't rule out Steve Tate landing a special teams role in Tampa...despite what some may think. |

Morgan Scalley was a better player than Tate, and if he couldn't make it, no way in hell Tate does. And yes I'm separating his college career from his pro potential. He had a very good college career, but he's just not NFL material.

I have no opinion as to the NFL-worthiness of Tate.
I will say, I hope he still has dreams of Michael Reed....

I have a basic question. How much is signing one of these FA deals worth? What's the initial money? And then if one makes the team?

Tate is a nice player, but he doesnt have great coverage skills, and his tackling numbers were inflated due to lack of linebacker skill.
