Hall of Fame Finalists

Not sure how many people actually care about the NFL hall of fame, but when two skins players come up as finalsts, I tend to take notice and this post of course has to do with the injustices of the NFL hall of fame and specifically, peter king and his lobbying efforts to keep Art Monk out of the hall of fame.

FInalists include, Troy Aikman, Reggie white, Thurman Thomas, Warren Moon, Russ Grimm, Art Monk, L.C. Greenwood, Harry Carsen, John Madden, Gary Zimmerman, Derek Thomas, Bob Kuechenberg,Claude Humphrey, Rayfield Wright and I think that's it.

Ok, Minimum of 3, maximum of what 6? So, according to most, Aikman and White are in.

Writers are instructed to not think about off the field issues when considering players for the hall of fame...which is King's justification for Irvin being in....let's look here Irvin: 750 Catches, 11, 907 yards and 65 TDs....Art Monk 940 Catches, 12,721 yards and 65 Td's....

On the field, it's not even close. Other players, Henry Ellard, Irving Fryer, and Gary Clark all have numbers comprable to Irvin's.

James Lofton, Lynn Swann and John Stallworth are all in with numbers that don't jump out at you...I take that back, Lofton's numbers are pretty good.

In any event, I'd say that Monk and Carsen should go in this year. Those two are the biggest snub tragedies the hall of fame has seen.

I don't think Madden should go in because there are a lot of 1 superbowl coaches that won't make it in the hall.

I hope Gary Zimmerman makes it. He was the anchor to the Broncos O-Line that helped so many 1000 yard running backs. That would give the Broncos only their second member of the HOF.
