Default Two tours absent disaster

all at the age of twenty-five, and all three tours in two years. That sounds quite remarkable to me, yet Contador remains a mystery and a virtual unknown outside cycling.

Will he be the next Merckx?

Is he cycling's Savior?

Bite your tongue! There will never be another Merckx. He might, if it goies well, be another Indurain, but he is not sturdy enough to win th classics that Merckx won.

He doesn't win the single day races as Eddy won everything. 1969 was a special year.

Alberto might become one of the greatest stage racers but doesn't seem interested in the classics. I wish Hincapie could have won some.

Their is to much specialization today. Back in the day everybody rode the classics, a tour to warm up for a grand tour or two and the worlds. If you made everybody ride the same schedule you may find someone that does well in all of them but as long as cyclist pick and choose when and where they will race you will never have another Merckx. Can you see Contador racing along the cobbles trying to beat Boonen into Roubix, it ain't gonna happen.
