Default Armstrong transcends cycling now

http://velonews.com/article/83572/armstrong-to-astana

Read and follow his Beckhamlike status. He is good for the sport. He has never tested positive for enhancements and he will submit his testing.

He's committing to cancer awareness, which I'm certain also involves self-promotion, but at least he's bringing somebody else along for the ride. How many others bring a politically neutral cause along for the ride? He's no angel, but that's why he real, human.

We at first wanted a saint who came close to God or something but in reality just found a narcissistic man. What else should we find in a narcissistic sport. One where the current TdF winner calls former winner and manager divisive, one where the current star embraces now fears Lance. One where the great Merckx cannabalized everyone and was beaten down by a French fan.

Cycling needs Armstrong for as long as he can give.

I'll enjoy Armstrong's return but I sure don't blame Contador for seeking out a new team.

If I were Leipheimer I would not ride as Lance's domestique. Man that would suck.

I was just thinking the same. I'll bet we see him defect as well.

Leipheimer isn't going to win the tour. He might as well commit to ride for Armstrong in exchange for Armstrong riding for him in one of those lesser races. Now Contador on the other hand can play the good soldier and go after the Giro and Vuelta again and bypass the tour for one more year. I doubt he will but if I were Bruynel I would talk up how Merykx record of eleven grand tours would be in reach if he did this and not just concentrate on the tour every year.

You think Leipheimer believes that yet? I have my doubts.

I'm sure you are right and he wouldn't be where he is today if he didn't believe he could be the best.
