In my experience, the women in leadership are constantly deferring to the men. The RS president, the YW president, the Primary president. To the point that when they do it with me, I tell them to speak their mind as they please.
We had a stake priesthood leadership meeting recently (yes, how it is that I am among the leadership is a mystery to me as well). And some of the women leaders were invited to the last part of it. When it came time for feedback, it was the women that had the most to say in terms of suggestions. I found that interesting, in light of recent events. Women invited to a priesthood leadership meeting and having the most active voices by far. This is the kind of thing we need to do. Involve women to the greatest extent possible. Stretch that handbook to its limits. This will help the church, not harm it. |

It may be worth noting that Holland at Harvard is the son of the apostle Holland. And he was also previously a Bishop.
He is trying to occupy that space between academic honesty and orthodoxy. In other words, he wants to sound sane to his colleagues, and faithful to his Mormonism. |

His Sacred Borders book was published in 2011 and still doesn't have a single review on Amazon.
Maybe no one can afford it. Or wants to pay for it. |

Everytime I see something on the net from Dehlin and then look at the comments, it comes across quite strongly that he is beloved by those that despise the LDS church.
I think that must drive some of the animus from dedicated members. You can't be the very favorite guy in the world of those that stomp around the internet looking to hate the LDS church and still be in good stead. At least, that's how it probably comes across to many. |

I don't understand what the big deal with him is. Maybe it's just that he introduces so many people to all sorts of things that my parents taught me when I was teenager (problems with P of GP, etc). I've watched a couple of his interviews. They were fine, I guess. My opinion is that the Church has gone after Dehlin and Kelly simply because they view them as scapegoats for a larger problem (loss of control of information because of the internet).
