In my day, Kiwanis park was the place where the Medieval Club got together -- dressed in full medeival garb, of course -- to have simulated battles with sabers and such.

Gotta love the medeival club. I did a piece on them for the afternoon news one day. I was going out in search of another story and just happened to come across several painted up in the Wilk. I asked what was up and the girl said each year on a certain day, they re-enact a pillaging (sorry, no raping) in the Wilk. So I got that bad boy on tape -- still have it somewhere around here -- and there are a dozen or so people running through the open area stealing lunches and yelling and all get out. It's something you just can't explain.

Nothing says "cool" quite like rampaging through a college campus in chain mail.

I believe the 'Medieval Club' is actually the Society for Creative Anachronism. I took a date to an SCA meeting once, and it had to be one of the coolest dates ever. We were both total outsiders, but the group was kind of bored with each other, so they treated us like Medieval royalty. Lots of 'My Lord," and "My Lady," and funny nerd innuendo. Good times.

Why am I not surprised that you went on a date to a Medieval Club (they will be known by no other name to this poster) meeting? Don't try to play it off like you did it as a joke. What was your Medieval Club secret name -- Roland Finnegan? And let me guess ... this is your web browser homepage: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dungeons_and_dragons
