THis is usually true. Read the labelon the transformner that is part of the plug. It will state the voltage maximum. Usually Laptops are good for up to 240V. I have had three differetn laptops (2 HPs and one IBM) that I have used overseas wiht only the plug adapter.

This is also true of many bathroom applicances (razors, blow dryers, etc.) btw. Read the label and see what the equipment's maximum voltage is.

Yeah, it looks like the lappy should be fine. I'm pretty sure my apartment has a blowdryer right in the unit, so I might not have to worry about it. But it wasn't worth trying to bring it anyway. Thanks for the help and suggestions.
