At the risk of revealing my nerdiness, I just picked up an awesome book at the bookstore today.

Cattus Petasatus. (That's right-- "The Cat in the Hat" in Latin!)

The thing is hilareous. It is a fairly accurate translation, and amazingly still preserves the meter and rhyme of the original. Sample from the first pages:

Imber totum diem fluit
Urceatim semper pluit
Taedet intus nos manere:
Numquam potest sol splendere.

Favorite scenes include the Cat juggling book, cake, and fishbowl. Tense discussions between Cattus and Piscis are emotionally gripping. "Maius" and "Minus" steal the show in their supporting roles.

Wonderful book.
