Default 8-year-olds can be given in marriage, but cannot file for divorce until puberty

Failed lawsuit in Saudi Arabia

A few highlights:
-To settle a debt, a father gives a 47-year-old man his 8-year-old daughter
-The girl's mom lacks standing to bring suit requesting an annulment because she is not the legal guardian
-The girl lacks capacity to submit annulment papers until she reaches puberty
-The judge asks the man for a good faith pledge to not consummate the marriage, thereby indicating there is no human rights violation or policy of state for the court to use
