Smails, you homer, Cummard tripped him. Cummard lost the ball, the other guy got it, Cummard trips him, and the ref gives the call to Cummard. And somehow this is "not deciding the game with the whistle". Actually the opposite is true.
Basketball is such a lame sport in college and NBA. Suddenly in playoffs rules change. Suddenly last minute rules change. Why don't they do the same in NFL? This is like not calling a facemask because "You dont' want to determine the outcome." Whatever. |

Cummard loses the ball, loses body control and in the process of falling down runs into/pushes the SDSU player, causing the ball to go out of bounds. Thats a good "no call"? Gotcha.
I'm all for letting the players the payers decide the game, but that was a loose ball foul regardless of what the clock said and what court they were playing on. |

I thought the officiating was allowing physical play all night. There were many plays where no fould was called that were very physical by both teams. Down the stretch was no exception.

Listen, if I'm a ref, it's moot, cause I would have called the foul at the other end, but I probably would have called the last "foul" the same way, and I'm guessing the majority of refs around the country would have as well.

How can I be a homer if I thought Spain should have gone to the line with 12 seconds left? The refs missed a call, but only one in that sequence.
I could make just as good a case for Spain being called for an offensive foul when he bumped Cummard back before his 2nd to last shot, as the "trip" being called a foul. Both were properly called by the officials. I agree with K-Dog by the way, the officials let a lot go throughout the game. Regardless, all the bad non-call did was take the game from Toss-up to solid BYU. Anyone saying we "should" have lost that game is not being honest.

On a side note, I thought JT really played good defense tonight. He was trying very hard to get after it and was hustling more than I have seen him in the past. Also Lorenzo Wade is the best player in teh conference right now.
Jimmer Fredette had a great game off the bench and he is getting better and better.

Agreed on all counts. JT frustrates me, but he didn't take any 3s I wouldn't want him to take. He's fully capable of hitting the wide open 3s he's getting right now. If he hits just a couple of those, the rout is on. It's frustrating that they're not going down. He also did a nice job of going to the basket.
Wade is clearly the frontrunner for POY. I thought it would be Plaisted or Cummard a month ago, but they'd both have to really turn it on to surpass Wade (winning the conference would certainly help that cause). It does help to have Burgess defending you. He abused Sam.
