Default Elder Oaks bashed Utah County tonight

At least that was my interpretation.

He is here for our Stake Conference and in the adult session tonight, he was talking about staying out of debt, etc. Then said there are too many "financial flim flams" out there posing as business opportunities or something to that effect. And said the most aggravating part to the brethren is that many of these schemes are foisted upon members of the church by other members.

Also said there is a FP letter that will be read in Sacrament meetings in the next week or so to this effect.

What will the Utah County MLM'ers do?

I'm not ashamed to admit I got "brothered" in my younger days.

What is your obession with Utah County? It's tired and lame.

This may be true, but this is a valid complaint about Utah County.

Uh, yeah. It's unique to Utah County. LDS people outside those areas somehow resist the urge.

OK, except maybe Southern California:

Utah County=closest thing to utopia on earth, but that's just my opinion. I dare any one of you to show me a better place.

I agree with Elder Oaks. I have some extended family who just recently contacted me about the latest MLM they are involved with (they don't live in UC). I wish this stuff weren't so seductive to people.

Utah Valley has more than its fair share of "financial flim flams" and in particular multi level marketing groups, which are slightly more honest "financial flim flams."

I am just as Utah County as you are, and I hate it when people needlessly bash the UC. But this is the absolute worst thing about UC in my mind, and really the only demonstrable negative.
