Referring to his post elsewhere about completing the Death Ride. That is a huge deal, especially if she is as new to the sport as he says.

How did she feel on Sunday?

For me, it really was a sentinel event, as I doubt I will aspire to that much pain ever again. The last pass, Carson Pass, really is brutal. It just keeps going and going. There is a rest stop half way up, and a couple of areas where the grade levels off a bit, but for that beast to come after 90+ miles of riding is really unfair. The worst part is the last 2 miles, as the pitch heads up to the 16-18% range, there is no shade, and more often than not, there is a headwind coming right at you. Coming back down that stretch is insane as well, as that is where I hit 55mph last year.

She told me it was her favorite event ever. She said she was well-prepared, and felt tired, but that she could have continued. She rode her bike the next day. Now she's focusing upon the marathon.

She is looking forward to doing others as well, after she completes her ninth and tenth St. George marathons.

I know this is long range planning, but I think it would be great fun to do Paris Brest Paris in 2011. You must complete a 200k, two 400Ks and one 600k brevets, before 2010 in order to the 1100 K event in less than 90 hours. If you do, you get entered in the "Great Book" which records all riders since 1891 who've done it.

I have one buddy considering it. Any takers here?

Thanks for the props. She is one tough lady. She's new to the sport like I am. And probably more natural to it. God left out talent when he made me, just gave me ambition and determination.

I figure if we road slowing it would take about 7 to 8 hours per 200 K, with two hours of sleep per day, it wouldn't take too long.

They have an 80 projected finish, an 85 hour projected finish and a 90 projected finish.
