Default Ayurveda for all

Ayurveda might be very much part of your life, especially if you are in Kerala. You might have many a time heard your grandma suggesting herbal remedies and you plucked the right plants from your garden to prepare the herbal decoctions. You followed many directives of Ayurveda and went for oil massages daily and it gave you the much needed rejuvenation.

The last decade witnessed an enhanced interest in Ayurveda not only among the local people of Kerala, but also among the tourists visiting the land. ``It is mostly the foreign tourists who visit the Ayurvedic resorts and spas with sophisticated facilities. The upper strata of our local population too visit these resorts where as the middle and lower class people of Kerala visit Ayurvedic hospitals and economic resorts to avail healthcare services,’’ says Raja Ravindran, a research student in Kerala.

Ayurveda kerala has grown exponentially, and the fact is very obvious from the presence of hundreds of newly emerged Ayurvedic resorts in Kerala.Even some of the allopathic doctors here advise the patients to turn to Ayurvedic medicine for some diseases. ``When I consulted a doctor for infertility treatment, the first thing he did was subjecting me to various tests. Then he prescribed a few medicines among them included a lehyam, an Ayurvedic concoction,’’ says Lakshmi, a house-wife in Kozhikode, Kerala.
