The red flag for me in this game was the performance of the offensive line. They could not open holes in the interior between the tackles. They were not getting good push. That's why BYU stalled out in the red zone so much. And the pass protection was not stellar. I got very tired of that poly WSU tackle owning BYU.

I had read an article not that long ago suggesting that BYU had a new approach with their OL. "Don't come to camp heavy and fat. Come in strong and nimble." That they were working on getting the OL in better shape. Think about how poorly BYU's OL has done in the NFL draft and making NFL teams in recent years. Last night was not encouraging in that regard. Who knows, maybe WSU has an NFL-caliber defensive line and I am just not aware of it. I doubt it.

Taysom Hill gave me football wood. His body looks like Tim Tebow's. Same kind of build. But looks like he knows how to mechanically throw (unlike Tebow). Excited to see what he can do.

Of course, I couldn't really see what was going on in the secondary while watching on TV, but the athleticness and headiness of our corners has to be encouraging. As well as the play of the safeties, as they were only beat once deep (called back by penalty).

That new 17 year old running back looks like he has flash. And Alisa continues to look good. Looks like the receiving corps is improved as well. Glad we got rid of that deadweight Jacobson (to graduation).

I think this team has the potential to be the best in a while. That's my first impression.

The Utah/Boise State swing will show us whether BYU is a real team or a pretender.
