If it was truly sacred and not secret, why wouldn't I be able to discuss things outside the temple walls with another endowed member?

I don't really know, but maybe because people don't know where to draw the line...meaning it becomes more and more casual, and eventually it's joked about and talked about like any other topic that comes up.

I haven't ever really thought about this.

I know we are told not to, so I don't.

Not being able to talk about it outside of the temple has actually prompted temple trips with my wife because there have been things I wanted to discuss with her that could only be discussed there.

Motivation for possible attendance could be one reason...

I can see group discussions about the rituals turning into a light hearted and light minded orgy, but I would think that within your marriage that it would be alright to discuss the things presented during the endowment ritual.

I am trying to think if there is any quote by any prophet, past or present, where he consecrates the earth. I'm of the belief that there exist plenty of sacred places on the earth that aren't consecrated and designated specifically for certain types of worship.

For example, there is a little used trail in Ogden, that climbs one of it's peaks. It traverses a valley that is one of the most peaceful, beautiful serene valleys I have ever walked. Loads of wild grass, wildflowers, pines, oak, are found as the noise of the city gets blocked out and a lookout point is found, it would seem appropriate to discuss the beauties of the gospel in all it's forms on a trail like this.

I don't see the need to discuss the ceremony or theatre, but discussing the covenants is important and can be done generally outside the temple.

I believe we can list them, without identifying the specifics of the wording. Understanding the covenants is important.

Interesting because the theatre does wonders for me as I am a firm believer that the theatre shown is specific and is loaded with allegorical sustenance that is important for our salvations. Salvation, progression, exaltation, I believe is grounded on an awakening of sorts, realizing who we truly are, and our Godly birthright. I think the temple demonstrates this idea well and teaches who we truly are.

The theatre has changed over time, but basically shows progressions, relationships and developments.

Perhaps it's meaningful to many persons, but because it's "theatre", or a "representation", it's not accurate and therefore, merely allegorical. Perhaps all human expressions are that way.

I like the lights going out for a quick nap, being taught some covenants and going into the celestial room. The other stuff is a slow way to teach principles that could be conveyed more expeditiously, IMHO.
