Any "Big Love" watchers?
I'm sure it's been discussed before on the site, but are any of you guys watching the series? I know there was a lot of hoopla when the show first started, but I've found it to be actually quite an entertaining and interesting program. I've only been mildly offended once (when they showed the missionaries last week -- missionaries are NOT like that), but it hasn't been anywhere NEAR as controversial as people (who most likely had never seen an episode of it) made it out to be.

I caught the first couple of episodes while we had a free HBO preview. I did not find it offensive. Quite frankly, I was more offended by the ridiculous grass roots email campaign than I was by any part of the show.

I can't seem to get into the show. At first, the logistics of juggling 3 families was somewhat interesting, but after that it became a little predictable. And man, how many sex scenes has Bill Paxton had to shoot? But, maybe it's just me. I can't get into the new season of the Sopranos either. |

I love the show.
The crazy part is that my wife likes it even more. She is normally in bed by 9 P.M. every night. (She is a teacher after all.) She always has be DVR for her CSI and Law and Orders so she can watch them on her time. She stays up to watch Big Love with me in HD. I really enjoy the show and what they are doing with it. The division in the family whether they should be Polygamists or not. The UEB is wierd, but that is really how it is. Other than the missionary thing (I agree it was lame) it has been an overall good show. And I think they have done very well keeping the LDS church separated. They mentioned the BoM last night, but all those off shoot Polygamists still use it as doctrine and read it so there was no misrepresentation there. Good stuff. Oh, and Nikki drives me crazy. Margine is hot.

What was the missionary thing?
I have only seen one episode, and wasn't really impressed. I wasn't offended, I just thought it seemed a little boring. And I can't think of Bill Paxton as anything but an axe-wielding psychopath after watching "Frailty". |

Have the wives learned that their husband is requiring chemical facilitation to meet their needs? I haven't seen the show beyond episode 2.

I'm watching the show
and am working up a review of it. If I have time I might put together an article for the Journal of Media & Religion (for whom I am occasionally a reviewer).

The show is about as un-entertaining and boring as "entertainment" can be.
Quite frankly, it really sucks eggs.
