Half the world has read Puzo's Godfather. It was a bigger best seller than The Da Vinci Code. I read it when I was about ten. He should have set it in the same epoch as the movie, not the '70's.

It was. But after 9/11, they just decided to go back to government issued IDs and boarding passes. Made more sense in the long run.
