Default Foreign films

We seem to be in a movie list frame of mind today. I can't remember if we've done a foreign film list.

My favorites:
Eat Drink Man Woman
Seven Samurai

Honorable Mention:
Amelie
Tampopo
Crouching Tiger/Hero/House of Flying Daggers-- all the martial arts eye candy

City of God
Amores Peros

Amelie had its moments but it just dragged on way to long.

I'll go with The Gods Must Be Crazy.

Also, to be prosaic, the Red/White/Blue films. Not that I really "get" them.

Chocolat. Beautiful Life.

Can I include anime? Hayao Miyazaki.

I enjoy foreign films and I enjoy oldies. I finally saw Rashomon recently. Eeh. Didn't really get it.

Tampopo was great.

The recent film "A very long engagement" is by the director of Amelie and has the luscious Audrey Tatou from Amelie.

I am also a sucker for the oldie "firemen's Ball."

I really liked Delicatessian. very dark movie, but also funny.

But my favorite foreign film is The mad adventures of Rabbi Jacob. Absolutely hilarious.

I liked The Kitchen Toto
I also liked Babette's Feast (Babettes gæstebud)

Run Lola Run (Lola rennt) isn't bad but it made me just tired watching it. I didn't like Love Me If You Dare (Jeux d'enfants) at all - the characters were selfish, vindictive, and mean - nothing what I think love is about.

Interestingly, the Kitchen Toto gets the worst reviews of all of those movies. Maybe I just have bad taste?

My foreign film exposure isn't that great. I've seen The Piano which is an Australian film even though it won some Oscars. I've seen Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon as well.
