Harper Lee wins award

First off, I didn't know she was still alive. Reading her bio above, it's interesting that she never published another book after TKAM.

It's sort of like when Axel Rose was recording his solo album for many years, and not being satisfied. I think he finally did release something and it stunk. I guess Harper Lee was afraid that she would tarnish TKAM by writing junk. Maybe some writers only have one real novel in them. And that was hers. And what a novel to be your only one.

Some poeople theorize Truman Capote had a heavy hand in To Kill a Mockingbird. Mockingbird does seem his kind of work. Anyway, what a lucky break for her to have been best childhood pals with Truman Capote. I'm sure at the very least he was a terrific beta, and opened doors for her. (Of course she served him well as a research assistant and investigator for In Cold Blood.)
