Again, if I understand right, the companies initially refused to pay for a lot of people, of all races. Isn't that taking advantage of everyone equally?

I actually picked up on that, as did likely everyone else who read it. The article talks about massage therapy for the evacuees, catered buffets, Tv monitors for football fans, and the appearance of the Governor--a far cry from the alleged rapes, stinking toilets, and anarchy at the Superdome.

I think that article was more a jab at how the local government is handling the situation much more effectively (including an appearance by Arnold) than was handled in New Orleans.

you're a tech phone center boy, right? then you can probably relate to rebates. say that your company offered a huge rebate. then denied everyone, saying they had to fill out an additional online form.

you know of course that eliminates everyone who doesn't have internet access.

And who are those folks? The poor. And who are the poor in New Orleans? Blacks, for the most part.

I say it's racist. I guess you say it is accidentally racist.

And then there are some people who have a giant neon sign attached to their forhead that reads "OFFEND ME!"

It takes advantage of those who are poor, yes.

Are you saying black people are poor, Mike? That sounds pretty racist to me.

I wonder if the insurance companies will treat southern californians like they have treated New Orleanians.
Personally, I think we should be making fun of California for this instead:

Interesting. Find evidence that Mike is racist and he loses interest in the thread.

The hidden subtext of this comment of course being, you would prefer Californians to suffer like New Orleanians in order to have your racial conscience at peace.
