Default V for Vendetta

Saw it last night. Liked it.

It's not exactly high cinema or the greatest movie in the world. But I like most comic book/graphic novel adaptations, and I like the story of an underdog against fascist oppressors.

Note, if you hate gays, Jews, and blacks, you are not likely to enjoy this film! Just trust me!

I loved Hugo Weaving's voice and his lines. It's like listening to an english version of SeattleUte, as he *thinks* he sounds. LOL.

Worth renting, IMO. But not worth having high expectations over.

I enjoy some of the dialogue of the hero/villian. It was a better show than one might expect.

I liked it... Mrs. Hippie was very angry when she found out it was rated "R" (maybe she should pay more attention when I take her into a movie... muahahahahaha) but was pleasantly surprised. She didn't like the "bloody" scene but other than that she liked it.

Originally I thought there were several things I liked about the movie but when I think about it...

I think I enjoyed more of what the movie ISN't than what it is.

They told a good story without remaking another old movie, showing a whole lot of naked boobies, dropping an F-bomb every other word, and having one of five or six plug and play action heros.

I finally saw this the other night when it came on HBO while I was in a hotel room on a businesstrip. Against my better judgement, I watched the whole thing. I thought it was not a good film. The story made virtually no sense, The star wars girl's accent was like a shape shifter: it never stayed the same. The V character's dialogue was more pretentious and self-absorrbed than an SU post describing a book review he's read. Plus, the 'symbolism' was so heavy-handed as to be eye-rolling-ly bad at times. I don't see that many movies anymore, to be truthful, but I really didn't think this was a very good one.

I enjoyed it. I was not expecting much but it did greatly exceed those expectations.

Your opinion is obviously the majority. I realize I am a bit out of step but I recall reading here that it was pretty good and that is the main reason why I watched it. Oh well.

Meh. Probably worth $4 and 2 hours. Barely.

I went in with high expectations (I forget why), and came away disappointed but not terribly so. It was good, but definitely not the high art that it seemed it might be.
