What's special about my commute today?
Archaea, you can stop reading right now, I don't want to hear it.
It was 94 degrees when I departed at 6:15 am. It will be 115 degrees when I head for home at 5 pm. It's ok, it's a dry heat. I rode home in 112 yesterday and it felt a lot like riding into a hair dryer. I don't know how the guys in Vegas can ride so much. |

When I started out of the garage at 5:30 this morning, I actually had arm warmers on. That lasted about 3 nanoseconds until the first blast of warm air hit me. No bike commute for me today.

It was only about 88 when I rode in this morning. It is now 101 and is supposed to get up to 105. Not quite up to Redding standards, but bad enough. I'll ask my wife to post a note if I go all Tim Russert on you on the ride home.

Is that a record for you guys? I don't recall seeing you guys above 105 very often. We had high winds today and two of the bigger fires up here have jumped the firelines and are burning out of control again. So, air quality plummeted and I think it kept us a bit under 115. It's 111 right now at 6:15.

At the official zones, it was 107 degrees. At my house, it was 117 degrees.
last night I tried bikram yoga for ninety minutes at ninety-nine degrees. There were pools of sweat before me. I ran tonight in the 117 degree heat. It was tough. Tomorrow doing intervals in the heat.

At least we don't put our bikes on the train when we get scared.

The only train out there is a freakin Amtrak, with no station. I don't see you commuting on your bike. |
