With the proliferation of the endowment ceremony on the internet...
...will we soon be in the odd position of active believing Mormons being the only ones who cannot discuss it (outside of the temple)?
In other words, we have people from all walks of life weighing in, yet in our own gospel doctrine meetings, we cannot have members offer faith-affirming explanations and testimonies about the specifics of the temple endowment ceremony? I think this could be a problem. |

I feel that too many members make the endowment out to be more taboo than it should. Yes it is sacred, and yes it shouldn't be cast before swine. But people need to realize that much of the dialogue is like a Cliffs Notes version of the Bible, and can be found in its pages if they would crack them open for a change. In fact a significant percentage of what is taught in the temple can be found in the scriptures. Earlier this year I quoted Isaiah 22:23 in a talk, and it created a lot of hubbub. The bishop, however, loved it, because it fit the theme perfectly.

Mike, in answer to your question, I wager more frank discussion will be allowed outside of two or three things which should not be discussed. I believe it has been made more taboo than it should be.
Ignorance of the ceremony has clouded it more than it should. What changes will occur in the future? Will all Masonic elements be removed?
