I think the reasons are multiple. Including people upset about how "little" he paid in taxes.

But also the tithing issue. Two possibilities here: 1. that he didn't pay tithing, or didn't pay very much tithing (minor issue). 2. that he did pay a full tithe.

10% of millions turns heads. And if it is 10%, and he paid 15% to Uncle Sam, that may cause some alarmist-type response.
