On a related note I think they hold the Worlds to late in the year. Interest in cycling has dropped off by that time and they have had terrible weather to deal with some years. I think it would mean more and they would get a better race if they held it the third week in August.

I thought they did that way to try to giver everyone a chance to go to the Vuelta. It seems like most people that want to race the Worlds skip the Vuelta, however (sych as Valverde did here) and so your idea probabyl is a good one.
