interesting Q.

There is some outreach at higher levels, the hygene kits, blankets, reading kits, etc that are shipped out from SLC to places in need. And the education fund, but those are kind of dial a charity. Include it on your donation slip and forget about it.

Our ward in Atlanta would serve dinner at the homeless shelter once a month. We rotated it through the ward, 2 or 3 families taking a turn each month. Not many participated (and it was often the same set of N families), but those who did really enjoyed it. Much more memorable than any fireside I've attended.
