When I had 7% body fat I had a 34 inch waist. 35 is not that fat unless you are a shrimp. At 6'2" 200lbs with 7% body fat I was wearing 34 jeans.

at that size you are far bigger than the average man.

The average man is about 5'11" and 170 pounds. For him a 35 is fat.

That's true I was just being mean spirited with the "shrimp" comment.

I am 6'5" and currently weigh 258. I have a 38 inch waist and in no way do I consider myself in shape. I have another 48 pounds to lose to hit my target and I would suspect I will be a 33-34.

I am in awe at our obesity. With an average height of 5'10" and a average waist of 39. that is one fat society.

What is even more amazing is seeing all of the fat from the inside. That is some serious cheeseburgerage

I'm a 5'8" shrimp. I wore 36 jeans at my fattest. Now I wear 30 - 32.

Here's what Japan is doing to combat obesity in a country where obesity doesn't exist. Can you imagine a public health project like this in the States? There'd be riots. Especially if 33.5" was the Men's standard.

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/13/world/asia/13fat.html

Quote:
To reach its goals of shrinking the overweight population by 10 percent over the next four years and 25 percent over the next seven years, the government will impose financial penalties on companies and local governments that fail to meet specific targets. The country’s Ministry of Health argues that the campaign will keep the spread of diseases like diabetes and strokes in check.
