Its success brought about its demise. Created in 1984 after Reagan trounced Mondale, the DLC was created to make Dems more electable and leave the traditional left-right debate by forging a "Third Way."

Since then we've had:

*The election and re-election of Bill Clinton
*The spectacularly successful implementation of "Third Way" policies during his tenure, lifting millions out of poverty
*Obama packing his cabinet with New Democrats
*Obama choosing New Democrat Tim Kaine to head DNC
*Obama declaring himself a New Democrat while asking for responsibility from teachers


now what?

I hope Bayh can get Obama to axe more from the budget.
