Personally, I think U.S. history needs to be viewed from a 3,000 year perspective or it loses most of its meaning. FWIW, the Mormon Church's hostility to historical perspective is the thing that disturbs me most about it.
Anyone who says that Bush is the worst president in history before his presidency has even finished has historical myopia. They have a name for it ("Bush Derangement Syndrome") and they have treatment for it too, SU.

Buchanan refused to stand up to the Southern states. This created a climate where they were free to secede without consequence. By the time Lincoln was in office, momentum was on the side of the South. He (Buchanan) certainly wasn't the sole cause of the Civil War, but he contributed to the climate. In my estimation, this made him the worst president in American history.

I am surprised at your Calvinist leanings in regards to the Civil War. On that point, I will not rebut.

I am working alittle in the dark here. Your link didn't come up.

My point. Reagan is not considered a very good President. Even the libs who hated him basically concede he was all right. Even though I can't see the poll, I will bet his approval rating the second half of his 3rd year wasn't much over 50%.

Clinton. If you listent to most of the media he was a good President. Loved by the left and moderate Americans. I will still bet the same thing I did on Reagan. Approval rating not much above 50%.

Eisenhower. If he was so popular, how did Kennedy get elected.

I don't know why the graph's not showing up for you.

If you notice in my post, I stated that I don't think it's fair to infer the quality of a presidency from popular approval at the time.
