Default BYU vs. Tennessee

1. Horrendous performance by the offense in the first half. They looked terrible. Like they don't even practice. Remember the days that BYU used to drive the ball down the field at will? Yes, they were good days.

2. Having watched 6 quarters, I felt like there were no real weapons on offense. No one who could create a big play. The new RB transfer, he may be strong. But he doesn't have any juke in him. He doesn't make people miss. And he's not all that fast. He's not a big play guy.

3. Well it turns out that the best player is the WR Simon. He came up big, as the only WR who made plays.

4. Its seems like our QB still has a lot of good will among the fans. But man, he in general wasn't very good. Part of the issue is the poor OL.

5. The OL could not protect. As one article pointed out after the game, that was surprising given how bad the TN defensive line is. Gone are the days of Ty Detmer with 8 seconds in the pocket.

6. Placekicker was obviously huge.

7. Impressed with the number of BYU fans in the stands. That was a very nice invasion of SEC home turf. I miss having BYU in the same conf as TCU. You could go to the game at TCU and half the fans were for BYU.

8. Nice to win. But we've seen this movie before, just like the Wisconsin win last year. Except this TN team is worse than that Wisconsin team. So what this means is that we don't have a disastrous start. And it's more likely that we will qualify for the bowl game. But we essentially have nothing else to play for. No NY bowl. No playoff. No conference championship. Just bowl or not. And top 25 or not.

9. I still can see a bad end to this year. And empty stands. And Sitake being fired. That outcome is still in play.

Another point - I had the impression that fitness may have been a significant factor in the game.

When everyone was fresh, it really looked like TN was far superior on the lines. By in the 2nd half, it looked like the tables had turned.

Endurance is an important part of football. It looks like our boys had more fitness, even if they didn't have better athleticism.

Thank you. It was an immersive Southern experience--big time college football in a historic venue, opening prayer, country music constantly playing, including an entire verse of Garth Brooks's Friends in Low Places, grilled catfish and shrimp Po'boy.

WR was our biggest question mark coming into the season and it's great to see someone emerging alongside Bushman.

Even John Walsh had about eight seconds in the pocket during the Copper Bowl vs OU.

Whatever you think of him, Wilson has NFL scouts trailing him.

There are a lot of factors around Wilson...bad OL...bad WRs...no weapons.

Without seeing him in person and seeing the whole field, hard to judge his somewhat poor performances this year so far.
