Interesting. Does slating a female as VP not just reinforce the notion that women are good enough to be #2 but not #1?

And no, it doesn't presuppose that all Hillary supporters are pro-choice, passionately or otherwise. It presupposes that there are more McCain/undecided women who will switch to support a pro-choice ticket, than there are Obama/undecided supporters who will switch to the GOP ticket to support a woman.

At least I think that's right.

That's what I thought, too. Until I realized they're actually writing checks to McCain and the numbers of defectors are going up instead of down. If these crossovers were supporting McCain out of short-term spite, you'd expect their numbers to be declining.

In Novemeber, it is all partisan, my friend. Ultimately, you are going to punch the chad for your own party.

Although it seems that there are several male dems that may want to punch a hole in Palin's chad.

I agree. Anyone who doesn't vote the McCain/Palin ticket is a misogynist.

Just like Romney supporters are all going to vote for McCain in November.

If people wanted to see a woman elected, Walter Mondale and Geraldine Ferraro would not have been waxed in the general election. Liddy Dole couldn't event out of the starting blocks. And Hillary still lost the nomination despite unparalled support, hype, and profile.

Sarah Palin will wind up making little difference in any of this except maybe some bathing suit pics may surface.
Women typically lean democrat. That's one of the things that makes this pick so interesting. McCain is making a hard assault on the the middle with this one.

It's especially interesting in light of the scores of life-long republicans who are thinking about voting Democrats for the first time this election. With boundaries shifting, the composition of base for either party is as volatile in this election as it has been in decades. This pick, clearly meant to counter that trend, could go quite a ways in redefining the Republican party.

Indeed. A very hard time.

Fortunately the Democrats don't have to make that choice. They can do both.
