Default UFC 92 is stacked.............

Nogueira vs Mir
Rashad Evans vs Forrest Griffin
Rampage Jackson vs Wanderlei Silva

That is a solid card.

question... what does the "92" stand for? 92 championship fights? 92 tournaments?

That is just how many UFC cards they have had. Started with UFC 1 back in 1993 and they have just named every card in order after that.

back when I was in high school me and solon used to rent from blockbuster the UFC fights. I seem to remember there were tournaments instead of just plain fights like boxing. Do they not have those tournaments anymore?

Now that it is a sanctioned sport they dont do the tournaments anymore because of the injury factor. After the fight, all the fighters are examined by the state athletic commission and normally they are issued suspensions for injuries to heal. So it is hard to fight back to back in the same night like before. They still do tournaments in Japan, but even Dream which used to be Pride Fighting, does the shows a few months apart.

They are trying to make it a mainstream sport like boxing and not just barbaric.

didn't the latest dream tournament end up with the winners fighting twice in the same night?
