Good for them. Nice to see it got worked out.

I don't know. Every account I read seemed to indicate that the University (the athletic dept specifically) was behind his son all the way. It appeared that the father's beef was with the bishop.

Do you think things would have worked out this way had the father simply shut his mouth and saluted?

Contrary to popular belief, I'm no friend of the BYU beauracracy. I butted my head with more than one administrator while I was there. But I didn't go whinge about it to the media, either.

Then again, I wasn't a "superstar" baseball player.

Well, the great irony here is that when the kid gets booted we get to hear idiots (Smails, I am looking at you) hypothesize about how the kid was probably having sex. Now that he is reinstated, we get to hear about how the kid and his dad were not properly respecting church authority or sustaining leaders. This is an interesting culture.

Neither of those was/is my position. I just don't think they should've taken it public.

I generally thought that going to the media about a bishop's prayerful inspired decision and complaining isn't considered sustaining your leader.
I have to assume you're trolling or just woke up on the wrong side of the bed. However, even if your standard is applied in this case please recall that the kid never made a comment beyond "I really don't want to comment because I don't want to ruin my chances to get back into BYU". You can't hold the kid responsible for his father speaking to the media.

It isn't different from the father I heard a week ago.

Maybe you are questioning his objectivity again, I think it was you. If not my apologies.

Since you don't know what sustaining means, I don't either by the way except how it pertains to me, I don't think either of us has the right to question whether he sustained the leaders.

Bishop's prayerful inspired decision is conjecture on your part, unless you believe all decisions made by a Bishop are inspired.
