Default I'm tired of hearing of police recruits being killed

in Iraq. Can't they freaking provide armed escorts for busloads of recruits? It's infuriating, all this incompetence.

60 minutes reports that 800 million that was supposed to outfit the Iraqi army was diverted to fraudulent contracts and all the money disappeared. Most of the ministry of defense that was involved have fled the country.

This feels like trying to turn rainman into Humphrey Bogart.

If you watched the 60 minute report, you saw the minister of ethics and corruption (not exact name). Damn, that guy looked as tough as nails. Old dude. Report said he had been tortured by Sadaam a couple of times. It is reported his job is the most dangerous in Iraq. The insurgents want him dead, and the corrupt officials (of which there are apparently legion) want him dead. Eight of his lieutenants have been killed. Kroft asks him how he feels about being a target. He says, "I don't care." The way he said almost sent chills through me. Brings the Untouchables to mind. what bravery it must be to put your life on the line to tackle this. 2000 persons are being investigated, prosecuted, convicted.

If Iraq had more people like this guy, they would be in a better spot. The forces of evil and murder have the upper hand. What can we do?
