1) You Can't Always Get What You Want

This is not really a story. If you know the history there is a story to the song, but the lyrics themselves do nto tell a story like, say, Taxi. Look, if you don't think Me and Bobbie McGee is a story, this sure ain't a story.

2) Pancho & Lefty

A good song. I sense this has a rosebud like connection to your Citizen Kane life. Ok, you can have it. But it only makes YOUR top five, not mine.

3) The Devil Went Down to Georgia

A good story song. Babs hates the fiddle solo. You probably aren't even sure what a fiddle is comapred to a violin, as they tend not to use fiddles at the ballet, afayk. Either way it is a good song, but I am not sure if it makes top 5. Have you read (as oppsoed to skim) the thread? There are some very worhty competitors.

4) Midnight Train to Georgia

Marginal qualifier as it is not too much of a story (but a great song by Sister Knight).

5) Battle of New Orleans.

As the self-appointed moderator of this thread I say this is a decent story song, even a good one, just not in the top 5.
