Better, hungrier rebounders. They weren't great shooters, but in the end, we were tired and flat-footed and got out hustled. We were ahead much of the second half, and lost it I guess out of fatigue.

Depth is the difference.

ACC schools will always have it.

BYU had 17 offensive rebounds in the game, and outrebounded Wake 46-42 for the game.

Also Waters you said they lack rebounding at the 4 and 5. At the 5 I agree, at the 4 however a very undersized JT is averaging almost 8 rebounds per game which leads the team.

What killed them against Wake was 1. Wake is better than they are, 2. they got intimidated after getting everything swatted inside and kept settling for threes.

They didn't rebound when it counted and the inside size intimidated BYU. the key loss was bungling the rebound out of bounds on the missed free throw. That was awful.

it's all about expectations. I would submit being a BYU basketball fan is better than a New Mexico fan where expectations are about the same and the performance is worse. Or how would you like to be a (non-deluded) Utah fan right now? All that history and how many years now of not going to the NCAA tournament? Are they really getting better? Without Nevill I don't see much immediate improvement there, although they're decent this year. They aren't going to be winning any NCAA games however. Wake Forest is currently projected as a #1 seed. It's not like we've been losing to SW Baptist and Idaho State.

Fortunately in the college game most teams are weak at the 5. However, this is making me more nervous about playing Utah. Although Plaisted didn't exactly ever play great against them anyway.
