Your kids want candy? Why not just go down to Walmart, buy the 200 piece Val-U-Pak and hand it over to them? Wouldn't that be a lot more efficient if your goal is to just get your kids lots of candy?

I'm with Creekster - if the little shits want candy they've got to WORK for it. Trunk or Treat is for California Namby Pamby Wussies.
If the goal were simply to get candy, I would agree.

The goal is to do something fun that the kids in our stake really enjoy.

I can't imagine ever referring to kids in the same way you do, but then again, I am not big, fat, and mean.

Smart kids. I happen to have the Bishop's ear in my ward and I also know that the Primary President, a SoCal refugee, has been throwing out ideas along the lines of "It's so cold here in October. We don't want those poor little children to get a runny nose on Halloween - why not do Trunk or Treat at the church?". Not over my dead body, lady! When push comes to shove we'll see who has more power in the ward - the Exec. Sec. or the Primary Pres.

<OffTopicRant>
Incidentally, I hate how my fellow Utahns refer to the church building or meetinghouse as "the ward". The ward is an organizational unit - not a building.

Excellent point. Taking something sweet out of the rear end of a car sends all the wrong messages.

My church canceled it's annual huge halloween blast for this year, because it said we should be at home in our neighborhoods using this opportunity to "witness" to the community. I'm still trying to figure that one out. Do we write "John 3:16" on the back of all the snickers?

I dont get that suggestion. Where else would you do Trunk or treat?

Does Trunk or Treat replace Halloween in Utah? No wonder everyone hates it.

In SoCal, it is simply an extra night. It doesnt replace the real deal.

I got a flyer from a nearby Baptist church inviting us to a Fall Harvest Festival, but costumes were prohibited. What's that about? It was on the same night as Halloween.
