Says that reference to it was deleted in the printed church history book back in the day.

This is on facebook, was pointed out to me.

Dan Vogel wrote a biography of Joseph Smith with the "pious fraud" thesis. He's certainly not a FAIR acolyte.

It's interesting that when you go back and look at church history, how things were very different, often not that long ago. The role of women has changed a lot. And now we are going to get back into debates about modern Mormonism vs. original Mormonism (i.e. Joseph Smith Mormonism).

Great if he's right. Dan Vogel is a nice guy, we are FB friends, even though I find his methodology to be whacked.

I glanced at his FB page. He seems to be pretty vehement about what a fraud JS is/was. He sure doesn't seem to be a "these are the facts, let the chips fall where they may" type.

He sticks to his fraud thesis fervently, but only for professional reasons. He has no anti- agenda. Doesn't talk to "true believers" because he doesn't want to disrupt "happy" people.
