Is it true that Bronco is being considered for some of the new coaching vacancies?
I heard he was on NC State's list as well as that of another school. It's nice that other teams might covet your coach (unless, of course, you are a Ute Fan ), but does this really make any sense after only two years as a HC? Wouldn't it be wise for schools to give him at least two more years before seriously pursuing him?

If we are a stopping ground for moving onto NC State, then we have truly reached patheticness in the post-BCS world.

We pay our head coach the lowest or in the bottom three of the MWC. Across all D1, that probably means we're in the bottom 10 percentile. For a program with attendance revenues in the $10M range, that is totally pathetic.
When BYU fans make fun of Utah's cost per win figure, poking at KW's "high" salary (more like 50th percentile of college coaches), it shows how small-time we think. I'm becoming a Bronco fan, though I think the hire was pure luck more than anything else. But what they should've done is opened the checkbook and paid Chow $1M. He would have done it for that. Or at least it was worth a try. |

I think the BOT cringe at the thought of paying someone $1 million per year. They probably don't pay the BYU President a competitive wage (instead making it a quasi- calling, instead of a real job with real recruitment), why should they pay anyone else a competitive wage?
Why should the football coach be the highest paid person in the church? (If he isn't already). The answer: because it's not football. It's a business. It's PR. And money is what makes the world go round. |

Even if it were true, Bronco isn't going anywhere.
He's going to be here for a long time folks. Holly Mendenhall isn't moving again unless Bronco gets fired.

The cost justification comes from 1. The revenue generated by the football team 2. The athletic department is quasi-fiscally independent from BYU (eg. no tithes appropriated for it) and is expected to be self-supporting. IOW, if the revenues and budget can justify it, they can pay the head coach whatever they want. |

I suppose if the booster club agreed to pay for all of it, MAYBE they would agree to it. I know how Mormons think, and they are cheap. |
