Default What year did the church move to the tithing-based austere budget?

I want to say that it was the late 1980's.

I wonder what the correlation is, if any, between the drastic decline in ward activity budgets and convert growth in the United States.

Certainly no increase in market share since 1991. And I believe that was after the budget policy was changed. I wonder if anyone upstairs is thinking about this.

Grape, I'm sure you are right, that most people are pleased to not be asked to pay additional for budget.

What I am getting at is the change in culture that occurred, the reduced activities, the cheaper activities, etc. The annual ward canoe trip got canceled, for example, in my ward. To a kid like me, that was a big deal.
