Default article asking why Mormons in US can't have civil ceremonies with temple ceremony

http://www.slate.com/articles/life/f...ut_should.html

I didn't realize that the rules were different in different countries.

don't some LDS couples have ring-sharing ceremonies after the temple sealing? Or is this discouraged and frowned upon?

My friend had a ring ceremony because his fiancee's parents were non-LDS. I don't think it's frowned upon.

My wife and I had one in the celestial room in St. George in 1998. The sealing room was off the celestial room, so perhaps that's a special case. No one discouraged us from doing it. I haven't been to a recent temple wedding though.
