He lived using an outhouse and sleeping in the dirt in a compound loaned him by the Taliban, itself also broke. He scratched out an existence and slowly built up his operations from secret donations from the oil rich. After the two U.S. Embassy bombings in 1998 (which killed mostly Muslims) and the USS Cole boming in 2000, donations and volunteers started to pour in. This enabled him to man and finance 9/11.

The oppressive Islamic regimes repress their people through controlled ignorance, such a determined illiteracy, and repression of true freedom of expression.

They allow one source of expression, to rally against Zionism and against the US. And that's where Muslim "charities" channel their funds to initiate terroism. As Seattle notes, we would have no terroism of any significance if it weren't for well-funded Muslim activists. Moderate Muslims need to shut down these phony charities and funnels for terro.
