Default The excitement is building!!

Just received my 6 pack of tickets to the now top 10 ranked Texas A&M Aggie basketball games.

Having now seen them play, these guys are for real. Their coach is one of the hottest coaches in the NCAA right now and they are a lot of fun to watch. INTENSITY! Oh how I have missed a good basketball team!

What's up with the military-looking uniforms when I see aTm play football on TV? Is it just the band uniforms or do they have a lot of ROTC?

A&M used to be an all-male school. Can't remember if it used to be fully military in the beginning--I think not, but has always been closely tied to the military thru ROTC. No school produces more ROTC. And "the Corps" remains an important piece of school identity. To the point that some will join the Corps with no intention of being in the military. The band is composed of Corps members, hence the military uniforms.

Yeah, I saw that. Scary. I don't know if I'm prepared for aTm to be a basketball power. Seems somehow unnatural.

Religion rises inevitably from our apprehension of our own death. To give meaning to meaninglessness is the endless quest of all religion. When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith.

No freaking kidding! When I moved to Texas from Las Vegas it was at the height of the Jerry Tarkanian era (you know back when they actually paid the players!) Watching a good college basketball team is a lot of fun.
