Default Dangerous political climate for President Obama?

taken from hornfans.com/westmall

"At one time the talk coming from the right was somehwhat amusing. There was some satisfaction in having folks that gloated Republican power for years lament minority status. Not so much anymore.

The Right's rhetoric is becoming increasingly more shrill, paranoid, and dare I say violent. It is now commonplace to equate Obama with Hitler, fascism, and Soviet Communism. And of course, you have dumbasses (Perry) suggesting secession. And we are only 3 months into the Obama Presidency.

Granted, some crap coming from the likes of Rush, Hannity, Michelle Bachmann, and Perry, is to be expected. But their and their ilk's rhetoric -- and of those who follow them -- is getting very scary. Take a look at the placards at those tea protests.

Factor in the race issue, and it is only a matter of time before someone takes a shot at him. And, fueled by the Right's rabblerousers, the people who do it will think it is their Patriotic duty to take him out, because after all, "there are Americans, and then there are [liberals, gays, blacks, etc.]."

It needs to be made clear, there was a revolution, a peaceful one. The majority of both the popular vote and the Electoral College democratically elected Barack Obama. It's legallity and legitimacy is not in question. And a majority of the American public elected Democrats to Congress. It is the same people and system that gave us 12 years of a Republican-controlled congress, and 6 years of total Republican dominance. And anyone who ever questioned the legitmacy of those results was labeled as "sore losers", un-American, and terrorist-lovers.

So what changed? Republicans lost. But somehow, that translates into Fascism, Hitlerism, socialism? The rhetoric needs to be toned down, and someone in the Republcan Party, and/or on the Right, needs to tell folks to tone it down. Dissent and opposition, yes. Suggestions of secession and actual revolution, no.

Be Safe Mr. President. "

I agree these neo conservatives are turning into a bunch of rabid wolves.

The counter argument is that Obama has pushed an agenda well beyond his mandate, and there is going to be serious push-back.

Elements of amnesty, nationalized healthcare, business nationalization, huge expansion of govt. and deficits, tax increases, gun control ALL AT THE SAME TIME.

Is the right supposed to twiddle its thumbs?

Your solution, then, is violent rhetoric? There is, believe it or not, a system built into our government for the peaceful removal of a president. The fact that people like you jump to violent rhetoric as a means of first resort says nothing about Obama, but it says a lot about you.

Isn't that what Bush did? What was the left supposed to do? But the amount of paranoia is frightening.

This is why I don't think a two party system really works, all it has done, is allow our country to be held hostage by these petty exchanges of party politics. We need more major parties.

And BTW, I only support some of his policies not all, but that doesn't mean I go crazy over it.

Dito. and BTW, why weren't we having these tea parties when these greedy oil companies were gouging us like crazy at the pump?

Obama/Hitler comparisons? Yawn. Been there, done that, for the last 8 years.

Wake me up when someone makes a movie about Obama getting assassinated.

Meet the new Obama alarmists: any time you oppose Obama and his policies and say you are going to "fight back", you are paving the way (and condoning) his assassination.

Remember Mike, it's only bad when the right does it.

I can say with absolute certainty if anyone on the left advocated secession or the violent overthrow of the government or its president, I would equally criticize and abhor such acts.

Fortunately, I don't have to worry about that becoming a mainstream part of my political party, whereas Republicans can't say the same.
