What I try to encourage my younger politicos is to do two things, first, have a very healthy dose of cynicism with your politics, because it's really all about money and control, and second, make your judgments based on realistic comparisons. If you look for Christ, Ghandi, Buddha amongst your politicians, they will all fail. Hell, most of them aren't even as good of persons as you and I.

Tone and meaning are sometimes lost on these boards. I was recently raked over the coals over something I said which meant something different to me than it meant to him.
So we have to be patient with each other. |

I love Novak, but he's a pessimist about everything and everybody. He's not called the Prince of Darkness for nothing.
I wouldn't jog too far across the political landscape using only his maps.

This is where Mormons are not pragmatic enough.
We make a political contest a morality play. Both Dems and Reps do this. Dems the "party of compassion" wheres the rich Reps. Reps demonize the other side as well, and perhaps for the masses it's a good sell. But those who choose to inform themselves shouldn't moralize it so much and focus upon the actual acts of governance. There may be candidates who espouse governing principles which are anathemas to good governance, such as Hillary, but the Reps played the stupid game too long, the individual morality of the candidates is not as important as the ability to govern. I actually see the leading candidates for the Dems as completely incapable of governing. A Hillary presidency would sink to the levels of Bush as would Obama, due to lack of experience. Washington kills moderately capable persons or dividers. Giuliani might be able to govern, but Romney appears most able to govern.

Hillary could govern just fine. She's had eight years experience.

That's when she was puppet master, but as the puppet nobody would listen. Obama is correct about her completely divisive nature.
