Rachel Ray was not bad about 5 years ago...then she became a bigger star and her mouth got bigger, her voice got louder and she got more annoying. Emeril is also a disaster. Seriously, how did they give this guy a network sitcom? He isn't funny on his own cooking show, did they really think that he would transform to a comedic genius in that kind of setting. Brutal.

I like Emeril when he doesn't have a live audience. Watching him perform in front of a live audience is nauseating. He adds some salt and pepper to the dish and the audience applauds. He adds some hot pepper and the women start to swoon - it's just too cheesy for me.

Bobby Flay is OK. I like Alton Brown a lot. The "celebrity chef" that I can't stand is Gordon Ramsay although I don't believe he is on the food network.

Do you guys really watch cooking shows? What's the appeal?

I'd rather watch sports.

I am surprised to see so many replies to this thread. I thought I was one of very few men who watch that channel. I love it. I never knew there were so many ways you could BAM a chicken.

Agree on all critiques of Rachael Ray. A couple of years ago I bought one of her cooking books called Recipes for Guys. It was trash. Her stupid recipes were things like cutting a hot dog into quarters and serving it on a hamburger bun.
