Default If BYU is undefeated

and all BCS teams have 2-losses, does BYU deserve to play in the championship game?

Depends on the loss. What did you have in mind?

Would Hawaii have fared any better against LSU than Georgia?

Yes, unless they proceed to win their next 8 games by only 5 ppg. If they keep winning by 30 ppg, then yes.

Assuming they lose their toughest games:

FLA: at GA, LSU.
ALA: at GA, at LSU
LSU: at FLA, GA
SC: Cal, ASU
Mizz: atTexas, Kansas
OU: Texas, TTech
Texas: at OU, at TTech

SC, no way.

FLA, Bama, LSU: Yes. And whoever wins the SEC title game will likely have another win over a top 5 team.
Mizz,OU,Texas: Maybe.

BYU: No. They only have wins over 2 top 20 teams.
TCU: Maybe. Wins at Oklahoma and 2 top 20 teams.
Utah: No. They only have wins over 2 top 20 teams.

I don't believe for a second that all BCS teams will have at least 2 losses, so this is a fantastical hypothetical exercise.

Why not? In a four year span we went from having 5 undefeated teams at the end of the regular season to having every BCS team with 2 losses.

Which has happened more often, the former or the latter?

Assume in your scenario that Utah's only loss is to BYU in a close game, and TCU's only losses are to BYU and Utah, both in close games. Utah would be a top 15 team (possibly top 12), and TCU likely a top 20 team.

Honestly, my dream scenario is for USC, Oklahoma and A SEC team to all finish the season unblemished. Who do you keep out of the title game? Even better would be the winner of the Big 10 to finished undefeated as well, with 4 teams undefeated and all worthy of a title shot. Throw in one or two undefeated non-BCS teams (sounds a lot like 2004) and you've got yourself a cluster right there. Which is just what the BCS needs.
