Default Politico article about Romney needing to own his Mormonism

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0412/75163.html

At the end of the day does anyone know what this man stands for? That's the problem he faces. It could be that not even he knows. You almost feel like you are looking at the mirror-reflected image of a man, rather than a man himself.

Some people are fundamentally unknowable. You get a to a level, and there is not just way to be close to it or understand it. It's not that that person can't be effective in the roles they choose. On the contrary, they can be very effective. But don't expect to know them.

You're referring to his platform and not his religion, right? A few weeks ago Romney exploited Obama's open-mic conversation with Medvedev; then on Sunday Romney up and did the same thing during a closed-door fundraiser (oops!)

Quote:
Romney's comments should be seen in the context of a closed door meeting and made by a candidate with a "penchant for secrecy."

"Americans expect the opportunity to be able to evaluate candidates based on their records and their policies. Romney is trying to make the specifics of his policies off limits for the American people."

Not sure if this one has made the rounds yet. An Idaho State University professor (and non-Mormon) relays thoughts on prejudice against Mormonism by academia.

A snippet:

Quote:
Many of the academics consider themselves liberal, socially responsible, and broad-minded individuals, the repository of the best in America. They’re proud of themselves for voting for Barack Obama (a bit too smug maybe?). They would splutter and bluster and be generally outraged to be considered prejudiced. None would consider saying anything similar about African-Americans, Muslims, Jews, Native Americans . . . well, you get the idea. But anti-Mormonism is part of the same continuum that contains discrimination against any group. Why, then, is it allowable publicly express bias against Mormons?

Whoa!

One survey indicated Mormon women experience more orgasms and are more satisfied with their married lives than non-Mormons.

It's the most important factoid in the entire article, no doubt about it.

Further research on that issue is in order. Any volunteers?
