BYU vs Bryant analysis
1. Bryant is a solid D-II opponent, they had some good shooters and played very hard, they really got after it defensively and it caused us some problems, which worries me a little.
2. When Tavernari is hot he is as good as anybody, in the first half during a stretch he hit a three, followed it up with a fade away jumper, then hit a runner, then followed that up with another three, and another fall away jump shot. He looked solid tonight in the 1st half, he went cold in the 2nd half but overall played well. 3. The thing i found most interesting was the use of Micheal Loyd Jr at the point guard spot. He did a good job, he is very quick and pushes the ball extremely well, he actually played more point tonight than Lamont Morgan did. He did a very good job. 4. Jimmer Fredette has that scorers mentality my only concern is that he doesnt have the quickest shot, but he is always looking for his shot and actually really stepped up his defense tonight with 3 very nice steals, I thought teh team as a whole played well on teh defensive end tonight, especially playing the passing lanes. 5. Plaisted had his usual solid outing, Vuk looked 10 times better tonight than the first game and Miles actually played adequately as well. Hopefully Mcgregor can get back and add some more depth up front. 6. Overall BYU was a lot sharper tonight, they made some big plays and I was very pleased with teh defensive effort, also when Loyd is in the game he takes the run n gun to a different level, he is very fun to watch.

Miles showed the rust I expected him too, which he didn't really show in the blue-white scrimmage. I doubt he gets more than 8-10 minutes a game. Right now his value is that he's a good post defender.
Jimmer--I really like him. I feel more confident he's going to get starter type minutes backing up both the 2 and the 3. Close to 20 minutes a game. He's going to be a star. He's not just a shooter, he has a complete game, and he's very smart. He had some great post passes and some steals. We now actually have three guys that know how to feed the post--JT, Lee, and Jimmer. Sweet. I thought that was something you learned in junior high but that skill has been sorely missing last few years. JT--probably will be our leading scorer this year. Guy is confident and wants to score everytime he touches the ball. Great college basketball player. Loyd--like this guy. In this game he appeared to overtake Morgan as Murdock's backup. He has a couple inches on Morgan, is almost as quick, and pushes the action more on offense. He was pushing the ball up incredibly fast creating fast break opportunities that normally wouldn't be there. He's not quite ready for D1 but he'll play backup minutes this year and is the point guard of the future. Murdock--looking more and more confident and definitely will be the point that plays 70% or more of the minutes. Burgess, TP, Lee--steady and usual solid play |

How's Murdock going to hold up against the likes of Louisville and UNC?

Probably not terribly worse than any point we've ever had. He'll struggle at times getting us into the offense and will need to pass the ball out of pressure a lot. We'll be running the offense from 40 feet out instead of 20-30 feet out. That's not been uncommon when we play talented, quick teams even when we have our better teams.
