How many dominating 5s are there on the defensive end in the NBA right now?

Dwight Howard?
Yao Ming?
Marcus Camby?
Tim Duncan?

You think any of those players are getting moved anytime soon? I don't.

how much would it cost to get Diop? While not dominating, he would be much better than Okur on D.

*Is 33 and shows signs of getting worse, not better

I wouldn't.

However, I would pay $6-7 mil a year for a guy who:
*Shoots 57% from the field and 64% from the 3
*Averages 3.5 steals per game

I'd probably pay double that if he could keep those stats up.

When seeing why Jazz fans weren't happy with Fisher, his play last year was nowhere near what he did it was this year, especially against the Jazz in the playoffs.
It certainly can't be coaching, because we know the 9-ringed Phil Jackson sucks in comparison to the 0-ringed Jerry Sloan as a coach.

Diop is about the only FA big I'm interested in. He'd probably be fairly cheap, and Dallas sure missed him.

I wouldn't consider him 'dominant' though.

Yes, Jackson has 5 rings. 6 because of MJ and 3 because of Shaq.

I'd like to see him have the guts to coach a team without any superstars. Let's see if he can actually coach, rather than manage egos.

By that standard, Larry Brown is the only good coach the NBA has seen in a while.

I can agree with this.

My problem with Jackson isn't that he wins with great players, but that he's such a smug dickhead about it.

Why not just draft Hibbert like they are projected to do... He will be great on the defensive end He's 7'2" and thick

I am not a huge fan of Hibbert. He is a bit soft, too slow, and disappears in critical moments.

Jackson can coach, and managing egos and getting them to buy into a system is much harder than coaching x's and o's.
